Congratulations Elena Watts, Lyon County Poetry Out Loud Winner

Elena Watts, Dayton High School won first place in Lyon County Poetry Out Loud Recitation Contest with her recitation of The Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll and When We Are Old by William Butler Yeats. On February 17 eleven Lyon County High School students recited 22 poems on stage at the Jeanne Dini Center as part of the Poetry Out Loud National Recitation Contest. Dayton, Fernley and Yerington High Schools were represented in this year’s district competition. Lyon County can be proud to have students of such caliber and accomplishment as these young competitors. We look forward to hosting Poetry Out Loud again next year!
